& Home Building
Framework Partners Inc. has been engaged in the real estate and home-building sector for several years. Within these sectors, Boards and management teams are grappling with an increasingly complex environment, particularly in the area of technology where pressure is being brought to bear to share MLS® database information.
In response to the changing marketplace, these organizations are exploring how they can increase their strategic effectiveness, organizational performance, market differentiation, and value for members and customers.
Effective Board governance becomes critical as organizations reassess their strategic direction as well as the roles Board and management teams need to take for successful implementation. Frequently, Framework’s projects involve multiple stakeholder groups with divergent objectives and values.
Over a period of 3 years, CREB ventured into a major transformation to become a more strategically thinking Board of Directors. CREB wanted to think differently and re-engage its 5,400 members and ensure that CREB programs and services best met the needs of its members.
Framework challenged them to think more broadly in a highly competitive, fast-moving environment.
The Board and senior management were engaged in the renewal of the organization’s strategic direction and related implementation plan.
Through the process, the Board participated in competitive benchmarking and member analysis. The engagement led to a strategic repositioning of the organization.
The breakthrough they achieved stretched the way value is delivered to individual members as well as to the ‘profession’.
Foundational to this work was a member segmentation and analysis that led to a program and service overhaul. Framework conducted this survey in order to categorize CREB’s database into member segments confirmed through the Member Engagement Survey.
Understanding how members fit into the confirmed segments supports CREB in effectively enhancing ongoing member engagement and strategic planning efforts.

The process was designed to build the Board and management teams’ understanding of the business, elevate the directors’ capacity to operate as a strategic governance Board, expand management’s leadership ability and capacity, and foster commitment to implementation.
As a result, the Board and its committees were restructured to better reflect the strategic direction of the organization.
